Erik
I’ve been tutoring A-Level Psychology for six years, mostly with students who understand the content but find it difficult to turn their ideas into strong exam answers. A lot of my lessons involve looking at actual questions together and working out what the examiner really wants. I particularly enjoy teaching memory and attachment. I’m quite methodical with essays and usually give students something short to practise between sessions.

Hi! I’m a Psychology tutor with four years of experience teaching A-Level students online. Research methods used to be the part of Psychology I found least exciting as a student, so I’ve made a point of finding simple ways to explain it. We’ll often use little examples rather than memorising definitions from a textbook. I also spend plenty of time on evaluation paragraphs because that’s where I find students can pick up marks surprisingly quickly.

Angelica
I taught Psychology in a sixth-form setting before moving into private tuition, and I now mainly work with A-Level students preparing for their final exams. My lessons are structured but conversational. I like students to explain studies back to me in their own words before we attempt a question. Social influence is probably my favourite topic to teach, although I’m equally happy spending an entire session untangling research methods or planning essays.

Lilly
Psychology clicked for me when I realised that remembering every study wasn’t enough; you have to know what to do with the evidence in an exam. That’s something I focus on with my A-Level students. I’ve tutored for just over three years and tend to work with students who need help making their written answers more precise. Lessons are relaxed and practical, with lots of short questions, essay plans and honest feedback on where marks are being lost.

Colby
I’ve worked with A-Level Psychology students for eight years and have seen the same issue come up again and again: students often know far more than their marks suggest. I concentrate heavily on application, evaluation and getting the balance right in longer answers. Psychopathology and biopsychology are the topics I most enjoy teaching. I’m fairly direct when marking essays, but I always explain exactly why I would change something rather than simply correcting it.

Marco
I started tutoring Psychology alongside my degree and carried on because I genuinely enjoyed the one-to-one side of teaching. Five years later, most of my students come to me for A-Level exam preparation and essay support. I’m not a big fan of learning pages of notes by heart, so we use diagrams, quick recall questions and examples from everyday life instead. Approaches and issues and debates are two areas where I particularly like helping students join ideas together.
